Monday Notes - 28 October 2019

Hello all

Thank you to everyone who came along to our rehearsal yesterday. Ivor felt we had made good progress but the take home message was that we still need to get more note-confident on some of the movements we rehearsed.

For those of you who weren't at rehearsal or would like a reminder, we sang through from the beginning of the work to the end of Lauda Ierusalem and then we finished with the Ave Maris Stella.

In particular, Ivor asked us to work on:

  • Dixit Dominus
  • Laudate Pueri
  • Lauda Ierusalem

In last week's Monday Notes, I wrote an update to the original score notes. These were also posted on our Learning Resources website page here.

To date only about half the choir have opened the updated notes from last week's links on Monday Notes.

*Important - please read*

There is still a lot of confusion as we still have two camps of members, those who have accessed and marked the score notes I have written and those who have not.

I am getting lots of queries where different lines are being sung within the same voice part.

I am unable to extract out the queries which need my attention if everyone is as prepared as possible.

We all need to be singing from the same divisi markings. Please open both the original notes and then the updated ones and mark the changes in your score.

Even if you think you have the correct markings, please check.

I will be emailing a couple of clarifications to specific voice parts in a brief separate mailing shortly.

I know there are probably a few small changes to direction that I may have forgotten to include, so if you you still have further questions that you think need addressing in the score divisi, please let me know.

Monteverdi Vespers tickets

Book your tickets on our website (or on the Cadogan Hall website).

Tickets can also be ordered at rehearsal from Andrew or Maggie and orders can then be collected & paid for via cash/cheque/debit or credit card in the following week's rehearsal.

If you are planning to book tickets in person, please do start booking them now if you can. This will reduce congestion in the process closer to performance if/when we get a surge of bookings.

Please arrive early at rehearsal if you are collecting & paying for tickets as there will be limited time in the break to do this.

Thanks everyone. I'm off to sing some more at St. Paul's this afternoon... See you tomorrow.
