Learning Resources

Most of us are familiar with a variety of sources for rehearsal recordings and learning tracks and many of us have decided which we prefer. However, this term is a little different for two reasons; the works we are singing are not ‘favourites’ widely performed by choral societies and choirs and all the works are modern enough that they are still in copyright. So, the bad news is that learning tracks for this term are few and far between, none of them are available on CD and none are free of charge.

The good news is the John Fletcher Music – a website many of you will be familiar with already – has Mp3 files for all four works. They are not free but, to access them, all you need to do is to pay a membership fee. Six months’ membership (more than enough!) costs the princely sum of £6.60 and you can sign up here. (If you already have a free account, you will need to log into that first, using your existing user name and password, before you can pay the subscription for the ‘premium’ account which will let you access the learning tracks you need for this term.) For those who aren’t familiar with the website, there is a helpful guide on how to find what you need and play it on the website itself. (Don’t worry about all the references to Dropbox – you don’t need Dropbox to access the sound files, it’s just that Dropbox is what John F has used to build his site.)
